What's Your End Game?
Are You Decorating Your Space or Creating a Masterpiece?
An Artful Wake-Up Call.
Good afternoon, art aficionados! I have a quick question for you. Are you just splashing paint on a canvas to match your new throw pillows, or are you on a noble quest to master the mighty brush? A recent piece about successful folks' daily rituals got me thinking about this dichotomy in the artist's journey.
Many of us need to level up our abilities but merely plateau at our current skill set – painting for longer rather than painting better. This is somewhat like trying to make a phone call on a banana – lots of effort, minimal results!
Are you content with painting “just-okay” scenes, or are you excited at the prospect of graduating from a one-biscuit to a two-biscuit challenge and nailing it? Creating art is not about the time spent holding a brush but about the strides you make. The adrenaline rush isn't from just painting but from conquering artistic mountains.
Real joy springs from a well of inspiration, enthusiasm, and the heady sense of achievement that washes over you when you've defeated your latest creative dragon. And let me tell you, nothing inflates the ego like a well-painted dragon!
When I chat with students who make the most of Personal Art Coaching, I'm often left jaw-dropped by the sheer artistic progress they showcase over time. It's like watching a caterpillar morph into a butterfly but with more paint and fewer legs.
Feeling a yawn coming on every time you reach for your paints? Do you find yourself glancing longingly at your TV rather than your canvas? Well, it's time to reignite the flame! Start by inspiring your inherent human hunger to improve, do more, and reach further.
Channel your inner Captain Kirk and make it your mission to “boldly paint where you, as an artist, have never painted before.” Trust me, it's less dangerous than fighting Klingons.
From personal observation, our academy members who take full advantage of Personal Art Coaching constantly push boundaries. They're the Neil Armstrongs of the art world, always stepping into unchartered territory. And they're doing it with style!
So, my artistic comrades, let's push past the decor and dive into the depths of true artistry.
Your paintbrush is your sword, your canvas your battlefield. To the easels!
As your art coach, I look forward to hearing how you are responding to this viewpoint of expanding your artist skills.
Happy Art Hugs (HAH)

I love this article! I feel like you are never too old to learn and you have to get out of your comfort zone if you want to learn!!
This is so true! The joy of the journey is making and seeing improvements, having goals and reaching to meet them. Having a knowledgeable art coach to point out strengths and make suggestions is key.
Sometimes I feel like a caterpillar hoping to make it to butterfly stage before a bird comes along. Sometimes I am the butterfly gliding on air. But I enjoy every moment of the journey. Thanks Ginger.
This is great, love the Star Trek reference 🙂 I paint long and often but this motivates me to stop and think. It often helps me to go back to basics. Thank you
