Using art to express feelings can be very cathartic. Although we usually avoid painting images with strong negative emotions, science shows that releasing negative feelings on canvas can be helpful and have a positive effect on lifting our mood. In this Van Gogh-style painting, we have a crashing ocean wave encroaching on the shore, with a man sitting out on a patio who's about to be overwhelmed by sudden doom, yet he calmly sits there awaiting his fate. This painting will tell a different story to each viewer, from negative feelings about global warming to a subconscious feeling of impending disaster. While not a great subject for a Christmas card, this painting will be a conversation starter to those who dare to paint it.
